Opportunity
This 20 room extension to the luxurious Auchrannie Hotel was carried out beside a live hotel environment. It was vital we build the extension quickly and with minimal disruption to the existing hotel and guests.
In keeping with the luxury and elegance of the wider resort, we needed to source and supply high end finishes throughout the new building.
Solution
The extension is a steel framed modular build system. Each room came as a single unit which was built offsite, complete with high quality finishes.
The modules were then transported to the site in over 60 pieces and craned into position. We overcame the logistical challenges of transporting these very large modules by closely co-ordinating the delivery schedules and timings with the ferry company.
External elevations are in render, incorporating large aluminium framed windows, with patio windows opening onto a terrace on the ground floor, and completed with a pitched tiled roof.
Only larger M&E items, the external render, roof, internal decoration and communal finishes were completed onsite, quickly and efficiently.
Outcome
The three-storey extension, which contains 18 executive bedrooms and two suites, also boasts ancillary accommodation including a family resource utility room on each floor.
Each floor also contains a guest lounge with an outdoors terrace with seating, providing guests with an alternative to sitting in the bar, restaurant or their rooms.
The two suites are located on the top floor, which also incorporates the resort’s Stromarch Lounge. Here, in addition to a seating area, the outdoor terrace also features a hot tub with stunning views of nearby Glen Cloy.
The two 51m sq. suites contain all the features of the executive rooms, but are further enhanced with a separate lounge and private balcony. The lounge area is complete with a ‘chill out pod’ – a circular pod inset into the wall where people can recline and relax.
