Opportunity

This project presented many challenges. The new build was adjoining an existing block of terraced houses so minimal disruption to neighbours was crucial. The gradient up to the property was fairly steep and there was due concern about the slope stability. The access to the property was also tight which meant full offsite construction was not possible.

Onsite construction would have been extremely disruptive to the neighbours in this instance, so it was beneficial to all parties that most of the work took place offsite. The build comprised 10 pre-assembled panelised light gauge steel panels, which are ideal for constructing a high quality standalone development.

Solution

Enevate Homes supplied all structural external and internal wall panels, constructed from lightweight cold rolled steel sections. These were bolted together offsite then delivered to site, lifted and fixed in place. This provided the client with an energy efficient and cost-effective solution.

We also decided to commission additional landscaping to overcome the slope instability and achieve our desired outcome.

Outcome

The property at Chaffinch Close includes a newly fitted kitchen, bathroom and a wide lounge with patio doors opening out to a rear garden.

The terraced house has two double bedrooms and the bathroom has a contemporary three-piece suite comprising a panelled bath, low level WC and pedestal basin. The ground floor covers 33.6m sq and the first floor 29.3m sq.

The external façade of the property was fitted with our brick slip system which is fully BBA certified. It allows the external wall to be completed with a professional looking real brick effect, making the property aesthetically pleasing.
